Today is the first of two elections that take place in France. One of the polling places is in the primary school directly below the third floor apartment where we are staying here in Nice. We were each awakened by 7:00 AM to the sound of animated conversations in front of the street side entrance to the school grounds. The news this morning says 1100 security people have been put in place to maintain order and safety here in Nice…and at least a half dozen of them arrived a few minutes ago at this polling place.
We are going to Cap Ferrat today to visit the Villa-Ephrussi de Rothschild gardens…to spend this cool but sunny day surrounded by the beauty of gardens and coastal vistas.
