The last two days we have been immersed in art…two VERY long days, too tired to get photos up on the blog,. Yesterday was a rainy and cold day. We spent the day at the Chagall and the Matisse Museums here in Nice. Today, sunny and beautiful, we took the bus an hour’s drive up into the hills to the little town of St. Paul de Vence where we were surrounded by works of art from the collection of a gentleman who was a benefactor of many of the artists named in the title of this post. Along the way, we met a couple from the village where my family used to live in England; and then, seated at a table near us at lunchtime was a couple whose paths crossed ours when Jan and I worked at the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office in Sacramento. Many shared friends in common. Will write a longer story about all this on Sunday, when we are going to take time out…but we have a big plan for tomrrow also…so writing will have to wait. Lots of parties going on down in the port on the yachts that are moored here for the weekend. Lots of chatter and whooping and hollering!! Monday is May Day in France and is a big holiday…we are going back to St. Paul de Vence that day as our mission there was not completed today!!!
Oh, wonderful riches of art work!
Please eat an apricot tart for me at one of your tea times!

I am sorry if you have had trouble getting connected. I am very frustrated with WordPress’s accessibility!!! Or lack thereof!
