DEPARTING FRANCE

It is 10:00 AM in Paris on October 8th. I am waiting in the lounge for boarding to be called…Paris to Boston…Boston to Dallas….Dallas to Tucson. A long day. Paris has kept me so busy and I have been too tired to write on the blog. However, I have taken a lot of photos, made a lot of notes, made more notes yesterday thanks to a fine suggestion that I record things while I am still in Paris. I’ll be writing lots of stories when I get back to Tucson.

This has been a magical journey for me. I am so grateful for all the wonderful people I’ve met along the way, for the friendship with Michael and Timothy that enable my Nice stay and for the incredible respect I have for the work they are doing with immigrants, for reconnecting with long-time friends here, for new friendships that have been formed, and two other special things. The French language came back to me almost completely, which was a surprise. And in spite of crooked sidewalks, cobblestones, potholes, and narrow winding stairsteps going up and down to les toilettes I remained upright.

It is the fashion show season here in Paris and watching all the reunions here in the airport of those who work in the fashion world is making people-watching fascinating. There is a buzz going on all around me. I am catching fragments of conversations all around.

So, bear with me while I regroup in Arizona, get through jet lag and I’ll be back to finish the stories. Thank you for wonderful messages both on the blog and through email. I have enjoyed the conversations with you as much as I have writing the blog.
